Travis Breaks Coachella Curfew

Plus: Suki Waterhouse video, Lorde's album, and underrated Travis Scott gem.

šŸ‘‹ When it's too good to stop — just like Travis Scott's set at Coachella, which earned Goldenvoice a crisp $20,000 bill for entertaining 120,000 people three minutes past their bedtime. Worth every penny, say the fans still buzzing from the show.

šŸŽµCoachella Fined $20,000 for Travis Scott Set

When the music's too good to stop, even legendary festivals face the consequences.

@coachella

šŸ¦… @Travis Scott

Travis Scott's three-minute overtime at Coachella Weekend 1 just cost Goldenvoice a crisp $20,000—proving that in the desert, time literally is money.

THE DESERT'S TICKING CLOCK. Saturday, April 12, 2025. 1:03 a.m. The Coachella stage vibrates with energy as Travis Scott continues his headlining set. But in Indio, California, city officials' timers are already running up the tab.

The result? A $20,000 fine for three minutes past curfew. Under Goldenvoice's agreement with Indio:

  • Shows must end at 1 a.m. (Friday/Saturday)

  • 12 a.m. for Sunday performances

  • $20,000 charge for the first five minutes over

Scott's tardiness? His set simply started late, leading to an unavoidable overrun. Of all festivals across three weekends—including both Coachella weekends and Stagecoach—this was the only fine issued.

THE HALL OF CURFEW FAME. Scott joins an exclusive club of artists who've cost Goldenvoice serious cash:

  • šŸŽµ PAUL McCARTNEY: $54,000 (54 minutes over, 2009)

  • šŸŽµ LANA DEL REY: $17,000 (late performance, 2024)

  • šŸŽµ MEGA FINE WEEKEND: $168,000+ combined for Bad Bunny, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Skrillex, Fred Again and Four Tet

Reports indicate:

"When performers exceeded curfew in 2023, it cost the festival more than $168,000 across six acts.ā€

THE FESTIVAL POWER PLAY. While Goldenvoice accepts fines as part of the business, other festivals prefer the nuclear option:

BOTTLEROCK 2021: Power cuts as Guns N' Roses and Dave Grohl rock "Paradise City" past curfew

LONDON 2012: Police silence Bruce Springsteen's mic—30 minutes over—after Paul McCartney joins on stage

The pattern reveals a simple truth: When legendary performances run hot, someone's got to pay. In the desert, where music creates magic across endless nights, the clock's ticking—but the shows must go on.

SONG OF THE WEEK

šŸ“€ Travis Scott’s ā€œDYSTIā€ | ⭐ 4.7/5

…aka ā€œDrugs You Should Try Itā€

Released on his 2014 mixtape Days Before Rodeo, "Drugs You Should Try It" showcases Travis at his most experimental and introspective. The song features:

  • A dreamy, atmospheric beat that helped define Travis's signature sound

  • Vulnerable, distorted vocals layered with auto-tune effects

  • Production that seamlessly blends psychedelic elements with trap influences

While songs like "Antidote" and "Sicko Mode" get more attention, DYSTI represents the blueprint for the sonic experimentation that would define his career.
