🎵 Zendaya to Play Ronnie Spector for A24

A long-anticipated biopic about legendary Ronettes singer Ronnie Spector is officially moving forward with an impressive creative team attached. Based on recent industry confirmations, here's the latest on the high-profile project that has music and film enthusiasts buzzing:

It all began when Ronnie Spector herself selected Zendaya to portray her in the film adaptation of her 1990 memoir "Be My Baby" before her passing in 2022. The "Euphoria" star will step into the role under the direction of Oscar-winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins, known for his critically acclaimed work on "Moonlight," according to reports confirmed by A24 to Pitchfork.

The biopic will focus specifically on Spector's tumultuous relationship with producer Phil Spector, who was later convicted of murdering actor Lana Clarkson in a case that revealed his history of threatening behavior toward women.

This isn't the first time A24 has paired with exceptional talent for music-focused biographical films. The independent studio continues its track record of ambitious projects by bringing on acclaimed screenwriter Dave Kajganich, whose previous work includes several Luca Guadagnino films including "A Bigger Splash," "Suspiria," and "Bones and All."

SONG OF THE WEEK

📀 Lizzo’s “Lingerie” | ⭐ 3.8/5

A sultry and underappreciated track from her 2019 album Cuz I Love You.

Despite being one of the least-streamed songs on the album, it stands out as one of Lizzo’s most sensual and intimate works.
